One of the most gratifying things about being an entrepreneur is that you get to choose your own path. Each of us has the ability and the capacity to lead a life by our own design, not by what someone else thinks is best for us and our business.

The problem is that so many business owners fall into the trap of getting stuck in the day-to-day activities of their business. They work as an employee (instead of a business leader), and find it difficult to up level and expand the business because they are stuck behind their desks every day.

If you’ve fallen into this pattern, this might sound familiar:

Over the years, you’ve built a team of employees that includes your Uncle Bill, who isn’t the best person for the job, but he is family. And Jean, the neighbor from down the street who needed the work and could start right away. You’re not happy with either of them, but you’re not sure what to do about it. Plus, you have so many things piling up on your desk every day that it’s hard to focus.

The good news is that by being strategic about your leadership path and following your heart, you can open up to more possibilities and opportunities for growth while decreasing the time you spend toiling away behind your desk.

Clarity = Focus

Forging your own leadership path comes down to knowing what your truth is. It means identifying your values and implementing them in everything you do and in every decision you make.

My truth is about helping businesses create solid teams and develop leaders. In my eyes, this is what creates a strong community. I have worked hard to find the power within myself, and now I teach others how to honor and live by their truth – not just in business, but in all aspects of life.

The better you know yourself, the more effective leader and business owner you are. To uplevel your business and get unstuck from behind your desk, you have to look at a multitude of things:

·     What are your truths?

·     What values are important to you?

·     Which values do you want to continue to hold onto within your organization and which ones do you want to cultivate to maximize your potential and profits?

There are a number of tools and assessments that can help you answer these questions. Together, these tools can help you identify the right people to add to your team who will support your clear vision and help accelerate your business growth. You can determine where the current members of your team can best contribute according to their personal styles and strengths.

Once you have the right players in the right positions, you can then focus on leading your company with your values and vision, expanding your influence in the world, and creating the business and life you desire. You can get unstuck from behind the desk.
